Hi All!
We wanted to share a little recap of our latest market trip. We visited the spring furniture market in Highpoint, North Carolina the last week of April. Market visits are important to us as they help keep us up-to-date on current trends and allow us to see new products that are being offered for each season. This is one way we can find new inspiration and be able to offer our clients the best possible ideas and solutions to meet their design needs.
This year we spent 4 days at market and visited more showrooms than I can count! I’ll start by talking about some of the trends we saw this time around and then post some pictures of our favorite pieces!
The theme of this market seemed to be a sort of “modern classic” concept in which streamlined modern styles or more contemporary fabrics are combined with classic furniture designs, lines and shapes to create some great transitional furniture pieces that could appeal to almost anyone.
This chair below is a great example of this combination of a funky, vibrant Ikat fabric on a traditional chair frame.

This chair also exemplifies how a classic frame can be given a completely different feel by using a bold striped fabric and painting the frame black.

Many of the showrooms we visited were using taupe/grey or deep plum colored paint as a neutral backdrop, while others painted their entire showroom a saturated teal color which was really eye catching. Teal seamed to be a popular color in smaller doses, but the colors that we found most prominent in fabrics and accessories were: plum, tangerine, and chartreuse.
The pictures below showcase the use of these 3 colors. Lots of contrast!

Another big trend was this grey-washed wood shown in the dining set below and a unique console in the second photo.

Chevrons & Ikat were very popular fabric patterns. These benches below were one of our favorite pieces! (notice the grey wash wood finish here too)

And finally, here are some of our favorites!
This sofa’s arms double as bookshelves or a place to put accessories =)

Petrified wood tables

Check out this great table base~

Very cool wood trunk-coffee table

That’s all for now!
Let us know what your favorites are! We had a blast at market this year and appreciate everyone stopping by to check out our blog. We are looking forward to a busy summer full of great design and plan to have some of our latest projects photographed and posted on our website later this year! http://www.anekajensen.com
